BSG snaps up Microsoft’s Digital Advisory team
Johannesburg 25 April 2023: BSG, (Business Systems Group), the 26-year old South African business and technology consulting company announced that it has secured Microsoft South Africa’s Digital Advisory Services team in a move that positions BSG as a combined trusted advisor and execution partner to many of the top 40 JSE-listed companies.
“BSG has a track record of helping clients execute their strategy through insights discovery and technology-enabled change. The team from Microsoft complements BSG’s strategy execution capabilities. It adds the much needed advisory services that formulate client digital transformation journeys,” says Mteto Nyati, BSG Executive Chairman.
BSG is fast becoming the leading homegrown business and technology consulting company in South Africa. It plans to achieve this goal through an organic and acquisitive growth strategy. Traditionally, BSG has a strong presence in the banking, insurance, and healthcare sectors. The Digital Advisory Services bolt-on acquisition will see BSG expanding into telecommunications and media, energy, consumer packaged goods, resources, and the public sector.
BSG has a people and client-centric culture that has enabled it to thrive over the years. As the company grows, it continues to put its people and clients at the center. Culture fit is the key consideration in selecting its acquisition targets.
“We were approached by a number of local and global companies that are interested in digital advisory capabilities. The choice was wide. It is always good to be in demand. But for us, what mattered the most, was alignment in terms of values and purpose. BSG stood out on both. Their values and mission resonated with us,” says Kim Schulze, former Customer Transformation Lead, Microsoft Middle East and Africa.
“BSG was also quick on their feet demonstrating the kind of agility their clients have come to expect from them. They put forward a solution that was a win for all parties. A win for Microsoft customers. A win for Microsoft South Africa. A win for the Digital Advisory Services team. And a win for BSG,” says Schulze.
“BSG is excited to welcome this talented team onboard. They are joining talented BSGers that have built this company over the years. The real winners though are our clients who will now receive end-to-end services from BSG. We look forward to partnering with them as they unlock the value from digital,” says Nyati.
